KOMBILINE passive seating system

The comfort wheelchair KOMBILINE sets new standards in the care of patients with seating systems. High comfort, simple handling and versatile use are at the forefront of the development. KOMBILINE is used when wheelchair care is medically indicated and low-fatigue sitting over an extended period of time is to be made possible. Patients with paralysis, limb defects or deformities, severe joint contractures or damage should be enabled to participate in social life through own or thirdparty transport. KOMBILINE can be individually adapted to the respective physical limitations and is well suited for reuse thanks to the high degree of standardisation.

General Data

High comfort

KOMBILINE is a two-in-one technical aid. Seat shell and wheelchair are co-ordinated such that a high degree of operating comfort is ensured; simple operating elements contribute towards a clear overview. The aluminium seat shell consists of a seat and back unit joined via physiological pivotal points in the pelvis area. The anatomic basic upholstery ensures an orthopaedically correct sitting position right from the start. KOMBILINE is available in a total of six standardised sizes, which can be individually adapted/additionally equipped to suit the individual requirements of the patient. The choice of technical aid is thus quick, uncomplicated and comfortable.

Simple handling

KOMBILINE features a seat-angle adjustment mechanism with simultaneous possible back-angle adjustment via a gaspressure spring. Two simple operating levers on the pushing grip enable quick and unproblematic alteration of the seat and back angle. The aluminium seat shell is secured to the back of the wheelchair by means of a sliding rail with receptacle hooks. The back of the seat unit can be detached from the wheelchair with a simple turn of the hand. A trapezoid receptacle connects the seat unit directly to the wheelchair frame. The complete seat and back unit can be removed by undoing a simple securing unit. The wheelchair is folded up so that transport by car is very simple.

Versatile use

KOMBILINE is a modern technical aid for standardised individual care. Special patient requirements are fulfilled through versatile additional equipping possibilities. Equipment can be added and removed from head to toe on an individual basis. Fixed and standardised attachment points enable the adding of a wide range of optional equipment.

KOMBILINE can be used for self-transport both indoors and outdoors, as well as for the care or third-party transport of patients unable to walk. KOMBILINE is capable of use for children, young people and adults; however, it can also be used for older people requiring an adequately high level of sitting comfort as a result of their physical restrictions. The unrestricted variability and fl exibility of the technical aid, as well as the high degree of standardisation of the “hardware” and technology, make it possible for KOMBILINE to be reused with different patients. KOMBILINE represents a cost-favourable alternative in modern sitting care. KOMBILINE is the innovative combination of standardised seat shell and adequate wheelchair and convinces through high comfort, simple handling and its versatile use.

A clear, fixed cost framework, as well as the possibility of reuse, mean that there is hardly any alternative in standardised individual care.

KOMBILINE can be additionally equipped with a power nodal system from the company AMF Bruns, so as to enable use in bus or disabled transport. KOMBILINE can also be used as an individual concept; the manufacture of individual, tailor-made seat and back units is also possible.

Medical Device Directive

The National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds is the central lobby of the statutory health insurance and long-term care insurance funds in Germany.
It issues the medical device directive considering all relevant regulations. This directory is continuously updated. All available products are assigned to different product groups defined by field of application.

All manufacturers have the opportunity to apply their products for registration in the medical device directive. It is required that those products fulfil certain criteria as well as quality standards. The quality standard requirements are published in the product groups and service requirements are defined (§139 SGB V).

Every product group contains a classification and a definition with legal indemnification descriptions and indications that justify a care.

By integration into the medical device directive, it is guaranteed that the care takes place demand-driven, quality-ensured and continuous and follows up-to-date medical know-how (§70 SGB V).

The National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds has created an online version of the medical device directive according to § 139 SGB V. Interested parties can comfortably and well-directed retrieve, sort, filter and print all information.

But it is imperative: The reimbursement of medical devices by statutory health insurances is only possible when the product is listed in the medical device directive. However, the medical device directive is not legally binding. It only has an informative character and it delivers broad information on the compulsory treaty indemnity and the nature and quality of available products.

The registry into the medical device directive was applied for. The product KOMBILINE is in application procedure. Reimbursement may be possible.
